SARAH PERLSTEIN
After finishing my undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois, I took a year off, and joined AmeriCorps St. Louis in September of 2005. Our first job as AmeriCorps members was to respond to Hurricane Katrina in Alabama, where I had an initial experience with first responders. By the end of my AmeriCorps year, I had decided to pursue a public policy degree, which brought me to DC.
I interned for the DHS Private Sector Office during grad school, which furthered my interest in homeland security and first responder issues. After graduation, it was a logical step to come work for G&H. In my spare time, I enjoy exploring DC with friends and learning new recipes.
